When Home Still Feels Cold
For many children, coming home from boarding school is something they eagerly look forward to. It means rest, comfort, familiar faces, and a break from the routines of school life.
For some of the children at The Ark Trust , however, one difficult part of life follows them both at school and at home: cold water.
Many of our children attend boarding schools where they bathe using cold water every day. During the cold seasons, early mornings become especially difficult. Yet when they return home for the holidays, hoping for warmth and comfort, they are met with the same situation.
The Ark Trust is home to 62 children, each with different stories, personalities, and dreams, but all deserving of care, dignity, and comfort. Something as simple as warm water would make a meaningful difference in their daily lives.
A warm shower after a cold morning may seem ordinary to many people, but for these children, it would feel like love. It would feel like relief. It would remind them that their comfort matters too.
This is why we are seeking support to install solar-powered water heaters at the home. Beyond reducing exposure to cold water, especially during chilly mornings and rainy seasons, the project would help create a warmer and more caring environment for every child who walks through our doors.
Sometimes love is expressed in big ways. Other times, it is found in the simple gift of warmth.
