THE SIMPLE JOY OF BEING CELEBRATED
For years, Joy knew exactly what birthdays at the children’s home felt like.
Every month, children celebrating their birthdays would gather together for a small celebration. There would be a cake placed at the center, songs filling the room, laughter from the other children, and smiles that lasted the entire day.
To many people, it may have looked simple. But to the children, those moments meant everything. They were reminders that they mattered, that they were loved, and that their lives were worth celebrating.
Today, birthdays look different. The children still receive heartfelt wishes, songs, and prayers from caregivers and fellow children, but the cakes and shared celebrations are no longer part of the occasion.
Even so, children like Joy still wait eagerly for their birthdays each year. Because every child longs for the joy of being celebrated, remembered, and made to feel special.
Childhood is shaped not only by the necessities of life, but also by moments of happiness that become treasured memories. And we remain hopeful that one day soon, the children will once again gather around a birthday cake, sing loudly together, and experience the simple joy of celebration.
