She Qualified to Study Nursing. Now She Waits and Hopes Her Dream Will Not Fade Away.
Ever since she was a little girl, she dreamed of becoming a nurse.
She dreamed of wearing the uniform with pride. Of caring for patients. Of bringing comfort to people during their most painful moments. While other children changed their dreams every few months, hers remained the same year after year.
And so she worked for it.
Despite growing up in a children’s home and facing the challenges that come with limited resources, she remained focused on her education. Last year, she sat for her KCSE examinations and qualified to pursue nursing.
For many students, that moment would mark the beginning of a new chapter.
For her, it became a season of waiting.
Today, she is still at the children’s home. Not because she lacks passion. Not because she failed. But because there are no resources to help her continue her education.
The home is already carrying the heavy responsibility of supporting many other children currently in high school. With limited funding, difficult choices have to be made every day — between school fees, food, clothing, healthcare, and other essential needs for the children.
In the middle of these realities stands a young girl quietly hoping her dream will not disappear.
What makes stories like hers painful is that many dreams do not die because children are incapable. They fade away because opportunity becomes too expensive. Because there is no one able to bridge the gap between qualification and access.
She has already done the hard part. She studied. She persevered. She qualified.
Now she simply needs someone willing to believe in her future.
