The Quiet Lessons Around Our Dining Table
very home has a heartbeat.
In ours, it is often found around the dining table.
With 62 children under our care, preparing meals is one of the most important responsibilities we carry each day. Breakfast before school. Lunch for those at home. Dinner in the evening when everyone gathers again to share stories from their day.
The meals come from different places. Some food is harvested from our farm. Some is donated by kind supporters. Much of it is purchased whenever resources allow.
And like many homes that depend on generosity, there are seasons when supplies become thin before new support arrives.
During such times, something remarkable happens.
The children become gentler with one another.
Older children instinctively ensure the younger ones are served first. Portions are handled carefully. Complaints are rare. Gratitude remains present even in moments when the kitchen staff is doing everything possible to make limited supplies last a little longer.
These are beautiful lessons in compassion and community.
But they are also reminders of how important consistent food support truly is.
Children should grow up focused on learning, healing, laughing, and discovering who they are — not adapting too early to uncertainty around basic needs.
A stable pantry means more than full plates.
It means healthier children. Better concentration in school. Peace of mind. Stability. Hope.
Today, we invite you to partner with us in keeping our dining table full.
Your support through food donations, farm produce, or financial giving helps ensure that every child in our care continues receiving the nourishment they need every single day.
Because sometimes the greatest form of love is simply making sure a child never has to wonder where their next meal will come from.
