Where we have come from
The situation of an increase of street boys added to the already hard insecurity hitting the Kiambu town and it was evident that something needed to be done. It was then that TAT, through thee Word of Faith Church Kiambu, begun feeding programs for these boys with the aim of empowering them to transform them into responsible young men in the society.
The feeding programs culminated to the need for a residential Centre which would offer care and protection for the boys who had expressed interest in academic and skills empowerment.
This need gave birth to the Ark Home currently Napastaa Heimen Children’s Centre on the 14th of March 1994. Eight street boys were housed that day in the rented rooms.
In 1998, TAT acquired its own land in Ngegu Village, Kanunga Sub- location Waguthu location along the Banana-Kiambu road and constructed some semi permanent structures. Sixteen boys who were residing at the home in Kirigiti were shifted from the rented rooms to their new home. This was made possible through the collaboration and financing from the Word of Faith Church, Napastaa Foundation Norway and The Norwegian Aid.
From sixteen(16) boys, the organization has grown to become a becon of hope to thousands of children, young people and families. This impact was felt even the more with the inclusion of girls in 2015.
Between 2014 and 2017, TAT, saw the development of two community projects the Swimming pool & Lunar park and the Napastaa Model School. The projects take care of both the vulnerable children and youth as well as the able ones. NMS, for instance admits both paying and needy children who study free at the facility, thus enabling them to fully compete in life with those able to finance their education.
